Rhinoplasty

The nose correction must fit the facial profile. The nose and the chin form the overall visual impression of your face. So when deciding on a nose correction it is important to produce a face that achieves harmony.

The possibilities and limitations of nose correction

People with a harmonious face and good skin have a very good prospect of achieving a successful result after rhinoplasty.
A significant change in the nose is possible, but it should only be done to achieve a balance of the facial features. It is most important not to loose the essential features of the facial personality.

Adolescents with the desire for a nose job should wait for the end of puberty. Of course, in young patients, the operation should be discussed in detail, in order to enable a mature decision on the procedure and thereby also to reach a final satisfactory result.
When restoring the nose shape after illness or injury, the result of the operation naturally depends very much on the initial findings. In some cases there is a need to use implants from the patients own body. For example cartilage from the nose rib or ear can produce perfect results.
Depending on the initial situation, the nose correction can achieve a harmonization of the face and thus a good result. However, an operation result can not be guaranteed. Before each operation there is comprehensive education and consultation by the attending physician. It can be very helpful for you to write down a few questions beforehand.

Do not hesitate to ask anything you are interested in and, if necessary, check back by phone at a later date or at another meeting.

The risks of a nose surgery

In general, surgical procedures on the nose are associated with a low risk when performed by an experienced aesthetic plastic surgeon. However, complications cannot be completely ruled out and can not be predicted. For example, the extent and duration of swelling and bruising that can be expected after each surgery vary with each individual. Extremely rare are infections of the wound area, but if they are treated appropriately will not affect the outcome of the rhinoplasty. In some cases the healing of the wound can be affected by factors such as patients who have blood clotting disorders, diabetics and smokers. All these matters are discussed with the surgeon before any procedure.

If the fine skin nerves are severed during an intervention, sensitivity may be limited in the operated area. However, this sensation usually disappears on its own within a few weeks. In some cases, the tip of the nose can have reduced sensitivity even in the long run. A reinforced scar band can cause the tip of the nose to drop in exceptional cases and result in an unfavourable profile. After swelling, irregularities can be seen, which were initially masked by the swelling. By choosing a good surgeon and diligently following the postoperative prescriptions, the desired outcome of a nose job can usually be achieved without complications and with good results.
